One important thing I learned this weekend in anatomy for yoga::

The shoulder is amazing! It has more mobility than any other joint in the body however, that leaves it also being the most unstable joint in our body. Protect your shoulders by lifting things close to the body and building the muscles around the shoulder.

Here are some of my favorite exercises to strengthen those areas~

Side raise with a light weightFront raise with light weightArnold PressBench PressBicep curlTricep kickbackPlanks (Forearm, full and side)

Remember, our muscles are labeled independently however, they work in connection with each other. By strengthening the muscles at and around those areas you can stabilize the joint and help prevent injuries.

Start with light weights if you haven’t lifted before and work your way up. I’m talking about even down to no weight for the side and front raises.  Build your strength slowly and respect your body. If you’d like more advice on shoulders or any other body parts be sure to contact me!
