If you've been following me on Instagram, you may notice I have a Power Plate vibrating plate. My clients and I love to use it pre workout to get the body ready for the workout, during workouts to turn up the intensity a notch as well as post-workout to prevent muscle soreness and get blood flowing! Whole body vibration is a form of exercise/therapy that involves standing, sitting, or lying on a machine that vibrates, transmitting energy to your body, causing your muscles to contract and relax multiple times per second. Whole body vibration has many benefits, and is certainly not a holistic hoax! Some benefits include:
accelerated fat burning
enhanced blood flow
strength and balance building
improved flexibility
reduce bone loss
improved lymphatic drainage
...and more! It can even lower cortisol levels (cortisol is that stress hormone that can largely affect our mental and physical health)!
It doesn't require a huge time commitment, either! Researchers say that as little as 15 minutes a day of whole-body vibration three times a week may produce the amazing results above! The Power Plate that I have is an investment, but there are more affordable options on Amazon.
Vibration therapy is for everyone! Whether you're looking to improve athletic performance or age gracefully, it can be effective for anyone from high level athletes to people in their 80's. While it may not reverse the aging process, incorporating vibration therapy into your routine may promote overall health and wellness as you age. So, what do you think?
